Dr. Benz is a St. Louis native who completed his undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis, his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and his orthopedic residency at the University of Kentucky. Prior to entering private practice at Tesson Heights Orthopaedics, Dr. Benz served in the U.S. Air Force as Chief of Flight Medicine and Chief of Orthpaedic Surgery at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas. He is also a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Dr. Benz has expertise in minimally invasive knee replacements and total joint replacements, Oxford® Partial Knee replacements, hand and upper extremity surgery, in addition to sports medicine.
Dr. Benz has been practicing orthopedic surgery in the St. Louis area for over 20 years. During that time, Dr. Benz has worked with the St. Louis Ambush soccer team, University of Kentucky basketball team and the Texas Christian University football team. Dr. Benz currently works with the CBC High School athletic department.
In addition to his normal office hours, Dr. Benz's is available for evening appointments on Tuesdays from 10AM to 7PM.
Dr. Benz is currently accepting new patients, independent medical examinations (IMEs) and also treats workers' compensation patients. Dr. Benz is board certified through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the Missouri State Medical Association and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Benz performs surgery at St. Anthony’s Medical Center and Manchester Surgery Center.
